All services reset the tuner to a virgin (unmarried) state. The unit will marry itself to the first bike a tune is uploaded to.
This means any VIN lock, or marriage to a prior motorcycle is cleared as part of the diagnostics and repair process. Please plan accordingly. You may need to re-upload your tune to the intended bike after the tuner is returned. Your software may also require you to update the tuner this is normal.
By sending in your tuner for repair, you certify that you are the rightful owner of the consumer electronic device and that it was lawfully acquired.
Rhine Labs reserves the right to refuse service if ownership cannot be verified. This certification helps protect all parties and ensures we are servicing devices that have been legally obtained.
We will send you an invoice to the e-mail provided once the inspection/repair is complete. Payment is due after the work is finished and before the tuner ships back.
Sales tax will be added for tuners shipped to Washington State. The rate is calculated on the invoice per the Washington Department of Revenue rate sheet provided by our credit card processor.

I also offer 1 inspection and reset at 50% off the standard repair rate if the request is made within 1 year of the date you received the repaired unit. We understand that ECU's get Replaced, Bikes Get Stolen or Totaled, or You just decided to get a new one and wish to keep and use your property you paid for vs. sending it to e-waste.

Yes. A used tuner is often still married to the previous bike. We reset and divorce it back to a virgin (unmarried) state so it can marry to your bike.

Yes. Broken USB connector replacement is included in the Basic Inspection & Minor Repair service for $170 + $20 flat rate USA shipping.
This can be one of many surface mount components that have been knocked off the circuit board. This is usually from being dropped.
Common parts such as capacitors and resistors are included in the basic service. Broken button switches are $10.00 extra for parts.
At this time we do not offer replacements of broken plastic housings.
Basic Inspection and Minor Repairs have a 1-2 business day turnaround once the tuner is received and inspected.
Advanced Repairs, such as dead tuner, liquid damage, or flash chip replacement, have a 5-6 business day turnaround once the tuner is received and inspected.

Turnaround varies by service and parts availability. Basic inspection with no uncommon parts required is 1-2 business days. Advanced repairs are 5-6 business days. The Dead MCU MC9S12DP512 exchange is subject to exchange unit availability, please call for current turnaround.

Once the MCU is dead, it cannot be repaired economically. The avaibility of MC9S12DP512 is hit or miss. We supply an exchange unit instead, which is why the price is higher. This is subject to Tuner availability.
Certain firmware revisions lock sections of the flash chip, preventing normal operation. Once these areas are locked they cannot be unlocked. Replacing the flash chip resolves this condition.
